McLarens Acquires Top Canadian Loss Adjusting Firm MGB Claims Consultants, Inc.

Transaction Solidifies McLarens’ claims services and market leadership in North America

ATLANTA, Georgia – USA Tuesday, August 3, 2021 - McLarens, a leading, global independent insurance services provider, is pleased to announce the strategic acquisition of MGB Claims Consultants Inc. (MBG Claims), a well-established complex commercial claims adjusting firm in Canada.

Headquartered in Toronto with additional employees in Calgary and Vancouver, MGB Claims’ team of more than 25 experienced adjusters and support personnel have earned their outstanding reputation by providing creative, responsive, and proactive claims handling, detailed coverage analysis and subrogation services backed by local market expertise. As a specialized commercial adjusting firm serving local and multinational clients, MGB Claims focuses on large and complex claims in Canada and the United States in the following areas: Property & Casualty; Professional and Commercial General Liability; Cyber; Medical Liability; Energy & Natural Resources; Environmental; and Film & Entertainment. Based on client demand, in 2014, MGB Claims established their Third-Party Administrative group, which continues to grow both domestically and in the London Market.

The addition of MGB Claims is a complementary fit with McLarens’ ambitious growth strategy and market expansion in North America. The MGB Claims team will add significant and multi-faceted complex loss management expertise and technical skills to McLarens’ existing aviation and natural resources operations in Canada.

Effective immediately, MGB Claims will become part of McLarens North America claims and loss adjusting division, which is led by Steve Whitmarsh, Chief Operating Officer (North America). The firm's three founding princials, Shawn Malik, James Giffen and Shawn Burnett, will continue to manage the business, supported by the current executive leadership team and staff who will remain in their existing roles. During integration, loss adjusting services will continue to be delivered under the MGB brand.

Transaction Details

McLarens purchased 100% of the equity of MGB Claims Consultants. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
